Narwal Freo X Ultra
A top-rated, highly-functional Gen 4 robot vacuum and mop that has a new approach to design The Freo X Ultra is a very well-built machine. The $1400 list price could be a bit steep, however, it is usually on sale to make it more affordable. The unit is beautiful and the base station takes up very little space in a corner of the room.

This robot's design addresses a few problems that we've had with other robotic vacuum and mop models, for example, the brushes becoming entangled in hair, or the brush not being able to reach bare floors underneath furniture. The sweeping performance on carpets and bare floors is also impressive. The vacuum and mop have an excellent level of debris collection and the mop can quickly soak up bare floors.
The mops also have an advanced system for cleaning around the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot can handle the largest obstacles like food bowls, toys backpacks, and shoes without any difficulty. It can get tangled or entangled with smaller, flatter objects such as shoelaces, USB cable and pen.
We used this robot to clean and mop a mix of pile carpet tiles, FLOR rugs and hardwood floors within an open, large floor layout. With Check This Out enabled, it cleaned and mopped the 90m2 area in just 170 minutes, which is close to average for Gen 4.
The robot is distinguished by several features. Freo X Ultra is equipped with a number of improvements in software, sensors and hardware to keep it on top of its class. It has been declared to have an autonomy of 3.5 hours for environments up to 260 square meters.
You can modify a variety of features of the Freo app, such as the frequency at which the robot comes back to the base station the frequency of mopping, as well as power (silent or smart) and mopping humidity. The app is able to detect areas that are heavily soiled and design a clean route, as well as dispensing detergent or raising the pads on carpet.
Other notable features include an easy-to read display on the robot's bottom and an access door for docks that is easy to open. The Freo X Ultra vacuum and mop is ideal for apartment and home owners who want to simplify their chores and keep their homes clean.
Miele Scout RX3
Miele is not a slouche in the robot vacuuming world and is known for its quality and innovativeness. The new Miele robot is designed to take cleaning performance to a new level, thanks to its advanced features.
The RX3 features dual suction, intelligent navigation with 3D mapping, and a camera that transmits live images to your smartphone for simple control. The RX3's powerful four-stage system for cleaning offers excellent dust pickup on hard and carpet floors, while intuitive side brushes with a swing-out feature and two suction channels clean in corners. The 8.5 cm height allows it to fit under furniture with ease, while front cameras and infrared sensors assist it navigate obstacles and thresholds with ease.
The Scout RX3 impressed us in our test on how well it was able to clean baking powder from baseboards and corners. Its 2,500Pa suction was weaker than other robots but it was still very quiet and moved quickly. It didn't mop and its removable cleaning pad was a challenge to attach. It also wasn't able to handle dried-on dirt.
Its app isn't equipped with advanced features like multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It supports Alexa but its voice controls aren't clear or responsive. Also, it's a bit difficult when it comes to returning to the charging station following running Other robots can follow a previous route or sensibly follow a wall until they reach their home however the RX3 simply bumbles around until it quits and then sends a message about failure to your phone.
Another issue we encountered was with its intelligent features, particularly the mapping function and digital keep-out zones. While it did a decent job of avoiding our furniture legs and shoes however, it was easily hung up by socks and cables, and was unable to handle the tassels that adorn rug. We decided not to include the Scout RX3 in our Best Buy list. However, with a reasonable price and impressive performance The Scout RX3 is worth considering when you're looking for a smarter alternative to the traditional uprights.
